The Summer I Turned Pretty - Jenny Han

Some summers are just destined to be prettyBelly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer -- they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.
I was seriously blown away by this book. I never, ever imagined it would be this good. I want to live in it, I want to be Belly and be friends with the boys and spend my summers with Susannah. It's one of the most epic summer reads I've ever read. Belly's strong voice was real and honest and so unbelievably normal. The magnificently developed characters, the wonderful and addictive writing made me fall in love with the story right away. One of the few books that actually pulls you out of your world and envelopes you so that you almost forget where you're standing. A sincere and beautiful story about friendship and love and support and growing up that made me daydream on the few moments I was not reading.
The writing was excellent. It's the first book I've red by this author and I already want more! The story keeps you hooked and guessing. I could actually relate to the story, some memories felt like my own. I felt happy for her, anxious, excited, sad, impotent... everything Belly felt, I felt. I could almost smell the salt water in the air. And I want, no I yearn for Conrad too. Poor Cam. All the characters were superb. I cant even pick one, even though I'd love to pick Jeremiah. I wish this book was longer and just kept going, letting me travel with Belly through all her summers.
If you're like me and love to sigh and dream while reading, this is the perfect read for you.
