Young Adult
Pages: 320
Publisher: Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Release Date: March 10, 2009
In Mary's world there are simple truths. The Sisterhood always knows best. The Guardians will protect and serve. The Unconsecrated will never relent. And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth. But, slowly, Mary’s truths are failing her. She’s learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power, and about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness. When the fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, she must choose between her village and her future—between the one she loves and the one who loves her. And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded in so much death?
I don't know how to put into words all the power of this book. Before I start the praising I may disappoint you guys because I pretty much hated the ending. However, the amazingness of her writing and how much I loved every other aspect of this novel makes it still a 5 star for me.
First of all, I cried! This may be common for some of you, but for my shielded heart, its rare. Second, the writing! This is definitely one of the best written books I've read in quite a while. And third, the characters, I adored, loved all of the characters. They were really incredible, every single one of them. Fourth and most importantly... zombies! I mean, unconsecrated! To those of you who like dystopian lit, this is a must read.

You know, I haven't read this yet. I should, yes? And soon I think. It sounds amazing!
I am really getting into dystopian lit. and I have heard a lot about this book. If a book makes me cry, then that is a true mark of genius. I will have to pick this one up. It should be moved higher up on my TBR pile.
I've heard of this one...and since it got tears out of you, I'll be checking this one out! It may not be the same for me, but I would love to see. ;) Thank you!
I really liked this book too. And I agree that the ending wasn't what I was hoping for! Especially because I learned that the next book isn't a sequel. It's a companion book!
Awesome! I just picked this book up!
I agree with 100%. The writing was awesome and the ending was frustrating! Don't feel bad, I cried too and that rarely happens to me. Great review!
Loved this book. One of my favorite from 2009.
