Fallen - Lauren Kate

Young Adult
Pages: 464
Publisher: Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Release Date: December 8, 2009

There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce--and goes out of his way to make that very clear--she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

For me, this was an okay book. Not bad, probably predictable, but not bad. There's always those books that you love-to-death, ones you really like and ones you hate. Then there are books you don't feel passionately about either way. Just okay. This was that book for me.

I did enjoy her writing, specially her descriptions in romantic scenes, but I was lacking interest for some reason. The plot was slow, which sometimes is not a bad thing; but in my opinion if it's a paranormal romance you need to speed it up a little, pour some action into it. The characters were good, again not great, but good. The cover is gorgeous, I love it.

In overall, it is an enjoyable book, specially for those supernatural or the "fallen angels" fans, but not too memorable. I'm hoping she'll write a wonderful sequel to make this one worthwhile.

I'm torn about whether or not to add this to my wishlist, I've seen a few so-so reviews but then others rave! Thanks for your honest review :)

Wow I was so shocked when I saw three stars. Your review is the first review I have read with a rating for this book less than 5 stars. Its kind of refreshing in a way. Thanks for the honest review!!!

I'm going to try it and hope it works more for me although if it is slow, then it probably won't. The cover is gorgeous though.

Very well said. I enjoyed her writing style. I thought the plot was a bit too slow, especially the first half of the book. Hopefully the next book is way better.
