The Truth About Forever - Sarah Dessen

Young Adult
Pages: 384
Publisher: Viking Juvenile
Release Date: May 11, 2004

Macy's summer stretches before her, carefully planned and outlined. She will spend her days sitting at the library information desk. She will spend her evenings studying for the SATs. Spare time will be used to help her obsessive mother prepare for the big opening of the townhouse section of her luxury development.

But Macy's plans don't anticipate a surprising and chaotic job with Wish Catering, a motley crew of new friends, or . . . Wes. Tattooed, artistic, anything-but-expected Wes. He doesn't fit Macy's life at all&150so why does she feel so comfortable with him? So . . . happy? What is it about him that makes her let down her guard and finally talk about how much she misses her father, who died before her eyes the year before?

This book was wonderful. I'm starting to love her books! I had heard great things about this one and specially about "Wes" the main male character. And whoa! This surpassed my expectations. The story is so simple, and yet leaves you so much. She is a magical storyteller, she can turn otherwise plain stories into amazing books with her writing.
The characters were incredible. She always delivers characters so real like they could walk out of the book at any time. And to my surprise, I really liked Macy (I normally like bad girls). And please don't get me started on Wes. He's understanding, former bad boy, extraordinary and most of all, extremely gorgeous.
The cover is really appealing, probably my favorite Dessen cover. After reading it, of course I wonder why they wont pick more fitting covers instead of just pretty ones, but it works anyway. If you like teen romance and gorgeous boys, this is definitely a book for you.

Yay, I'm glad you liked it! This is one of my top three picks from Dessen. I adore the little truth game they play throughout the book.

I love Sarah Dessen, and you described her amazing writing abilities perfect with "She is a magical storyteller, she can turn otherwise plain stories into amazing books with her writing". These are exactly my thoughts. Stories that seem simple, yet they leave you so much.

I love every single one of her books, I've read them all. But my favourites have to be The Truth About Forever and This Lullaby. :)
